THE RESEARCH INTO THE IMPACT OF ARTS AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES ON THE ECONOMIES OF AFRICAN COUNTRIES.
Context
The Arterial Network has put out a project call to research the impact of the arts on Africa’s economy. As this call explains, the arts and culture are often marginalised in Africa and are seen to have little impact on developmental issues of poverty eradication, job creation, rural and urban development or community livelihoods let alone on economic considerations of GDP, employment and export earnings.
The first set of the research project was designed by Agoralumiere in collaboration with the CAJ from South Africa in line with the African Union's plan of Action for Cultural and Creative industries in Africa and being implemented on the ground by African seniors and junior researchers in each country and under the mentorship of Agoralumiere.
